Calypso is The One Who Veils...
Next Story Session on May 23rd!
The name Calypso (Greek: Καλυψώ, Kalypsō) comes from the Ancient Greek verb καλύπτω (kalyptō), which means “to cover,” “to conceal,” or “to hide.”
You could see Calypso as the one who hides Odysseus from the world, the one who provides a liminal space outside the world for a hero to rest, be invisible, be offline. A necessary phase in the Hero’s Journey. Being veiled comes with a risk of forgetting himself and his mission, of course…
His hiding place is her whole life, she is the one who inhabits the liminal island of Ogygia, her very ancient, timeless place.
A Calypso ‘s island is what we may need every now and then on our journey through the wild and outrageous world we live in. Calypso is the ancient Greek Goddess who provides this rare and much-sought after commodity.
I have to take a bit of time, it seems, on Calypso's island… and I need to reschedule.
New date for the Story Session on Calypso is May 23rd.
Be well, all, and may you find some peace and quiet in your day-to-day lives. Think of Calypso, who knows how to hide & veil …
Take good care during this time of rest. 💙✨
